Get Informed
Weather in the mountains changes quickly; find out what it will be like and choose your route and equipment accordingly.
Inform Others
Before you leave, share information about your intended route and your estimated time of return.
Ride Only on Permitted Trails
If a path is legally marked as forbidden, do not use it. Do not ride off marked bike trails.
Know Trail Markings
Follow the markings and, if necessary, check your map to avoid getting lost.
Control Your Bike
Ride in a way that allows you to stop within your visible distance. You might encounter someone or something anywhere. Don't overestimate your technical and physical fitness.
Yield to Others
Alert others that you are passing them. Slow down sufficiently when passing, and if safety requires it, stop.
Act Prudently
Wear a helmet. Anticipate dangerous situations. Know the contact numbers for Mountain Rescue or the Emergency Medical Service. Always have your mobile phone charged and turned on.
